A range of ergonomically designed combination tools for polypropylene strapping.
These tools allows you to save time when tensioning and sealing polypropylene strapping by combining both actions in a simple, easy to use tool. They are designed for use where strapping is required on a horizontal, flat surface making it the most common tool for strapping pallets or cartons.
As well as our range of hand combination strapping tools we also supply separate sealing and tension tools. Typically these are popular where strapping is being applied to products or pallets less frequently and the cost of a combination tool isn’t justified. The tensioning tool works on a flat surface (vertical or horizontal) with the ends of the strapping being fed into the tool and the tension being applied using the handle. Once the required degree of tension has been applied the metal seal can be crimped around the strap using our hand sealing tool.
Most users of polypropylene strapping will benefit from improved efficiency. As well as specialising in the supply of the consumable strapping and all the requisite tools, Kite also carries in stock a range of accessories. These include our dispenser stand and strapping trolley. Both of these accessories provide a quick and easy way to move strapping coils around your working environment. It’s often far easier to take the strapping to your product than the other way round.
The hand held friction weld tool is the strapping tool of choice for high volume strapping requirements. Used to wrap & seal polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET) strapping around a product, pallet or container. Strapping applied using one of these tools gives increased security and protection. These units are cordless and lightweight so benefit from being fully mobile. They are powered by rechargeable battery. They are simple to use and the programmable controls allow the required amount of strapping and tensioning time to be set up by the operator.
Please note: Our cordless friction weld tools are only available on a standard 2-4 day delivery.
The lightest model in our range, with the tool weighing just 2.9kg, the hurricane friction weld tool is suitable for strapping medium to heavy loads, ideal for PP or PET strapping. Simple and easy to use, both hurricane models work by pressing just two buttons to tension and seal strapping. 5-7 day lead time.
This cordless battery operated friction weld tool is of high quality and low cost. It is designed for use with both polypropylene and polyester strapping and can be used for strapping widths between 9-16mm.
This tool has different settings when being used for either polypropylene or polyester strapping and users will benefit from the convenience of being able to increase or lessen the tension and friction of the strap.
The battery life is shown on the tool, ensuring you do not run out of charge and the guide can easily be changed, when switching between different strap widths. This easy to use and simply adjusted machine can perform both vertical and horizontal strapping.
Only available on a standard 2-4 day delivery.
Our premium cordless friction weld tool can be used for a variety of applications. With a variable tensioning speed of up to 220mm/s, it has been proven to increase production uptime. It is designed for use with both polypropylene and polyester strapping and can be used for strapping widths 12mm/13mm.
This tool has an integrated full touch display allowing users to easily change tool settings to suit their specific requirements, for simple adjustment of parameters and tool status information. This includes:
The touch display also provides a clear 3 colour info display helping to avoid operator errors.
Please allow a 7-10 working day lead time, only available on extended delivery. One year warranty is included, this does not cover the replacement of wear parts if the tool is to be replaced on the grounds of wear and tear. Please contact us for more information.
Kite’s heavy duty chrome steel strapping sealers are designed to be used with either 12mm or 16mm serrated seals. This tool ensures users a stronger more efficient seal than a basic sealer and the long metal arms make for easy and fast closure.
Friction weld strapping tools from Kite Packaging make easy work of banding products together, with adjustable strap tension. See how to use the tool.
Our hurricane friction weld tool makes it easy to tension and seal strapping at the push of a button. This tool weights very little, making it the lightest model in our range. Suitable for medium to heavy loads.

Which strapping is best for you?
With a wide range of strapping on the market, we have some tips and advice on selecting the right strapping for you. So without further ado let’s take a look at what strapping itself is and the choices you have readily available.
Strapping is used throughout a range of industries to bundle items together for easier handling, securing items to pallets and crates, reinforcing boxes and fastening goods. It’s ideal for securing items during shipment or for medium to long-term storage and is often used in construction, agriculture and shipping industries as well as other uses throughout the packaging and manufacturing sectors. The vital part strapping plays is providing a secure fastened seal when packing goods for transit or storage.
In a world where health and safety is becoming ever more apparent and the everyday battle with damaged goods continues, we know how important it is to have the right equipment available for businesses to choose from. Whether strapping is a new venture for your business or its simply second nature to you, it is not always clear what kind of strapping you need so let’s explore what types are actually out there. At Kite we offer four different types of strapping…
Another type of plastic strapping is polyester, an effective, popular alternative for steel strapping. Its high break strength and high level tension goes hand in hand with its great elongation, therefore providing quality strapping for medium to heavy duty construction materials. Its elongation and high recovery characteristics mean polyester strapping can adapt after application to allow for any of its content expanding or contracting, therefore ensuring the same level of protection for loads throughout the transit stage.
Polypropylene strapping is seen as a more light to medium duty strapping which is the ideal option for palletising and bundling that requires a lighter duty seal. When compared with most other materials, polypropylene is the most economical as its lightweight material is easy to recycle at the end of use. It’s ideal for short transportation periods and for loads that are already protected from extreme environmental conditions and outside weathering. Its properties include high elongation and elongation memory, however it is likely to lose some of its tension after it is applied, making it particularly useful for bundles that can take up the slack but not accommodating for heavy duty solid goods that require a consistent tension.
Corded Polyester Strapping
Corded polyester strapping which is also commonly known as non-woven polyester cord strapping is stronger than both standard polypropylene and polyester strapping. This makes it ideal for heavy duty applications where strength is non-negotiable. Its high breaking strain offers a perfect alternative for steel strapping but with one further benefit, it is substantially lighter than it, allowing for ease and flexibility of use. Its elastic memory keeps loads tight and absorbs any shocks that occur in transit.
