Select single wall cardboard boxes in our range come multiscored, allowing you to reduce the height of the box by cutting down the corners and folding to the marked depth. This gives you adjustable sizing in a single box, reducing the need to stock multiple sizes and minimising wasted void space around your product. Multiscore lines are clearly visible on the box. Simply cut down each corner to the height you require, then fold down the flaps to the new height.

How thick is single wall cardboard?

Single wall cardboard is typically 2.3–3mm thick, depending on whether it has R or B fluting. R fluting (approximately 2.3mm) is a lighter, more economical option suited to smaller, lighter items. B fluting (approximately 3mm) is a heavier specification providing greater rigidity and compression resistance, making it a better choice for slightly heavier contents or items that require a more sturdy outer protection.

What is the weight limit for a single wall cardboard box?

The loading capacity of a single wall cardboard box depends on its size and the board grade used in construction. As a general guide:

• Small to medium-sized single wall boxes are intended for small to medium-sized items, generally holding between 13–18kg of evenly distributed weight
• Large single wall boxes can support a load of up to 23–32kg if the weight is distributed evenly

For heavy or fragile goods that exceed these limits, we recommend upgrading to our double wall cardboard boxes or heavy-duty boxes, which offer greater compression resistance and loading capacity.
